■ Testicular Mass

Any complaint of a testicular mass is considered malignant until proven otherwise.

History

The patient may report sudden or acute onset of a painful or tender testicle. Most patients are unable to report the length of time the lesion has actually been present. If the patient has felt a palpable mass, he may give history of increasing size and/or tenderness over a period of weeks or months. In addition to the history of how the mass has developed and any associated changes such as pain or discomfort, explore the patient’s general health and review of systems, assessing urinary symptoms and presence of any systemic symptoms.
